The Gift

A song by Livtar Singh Khalsa about the legendary giant hailstorm that took place only over the Tantric shelter during one of the Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan’s classes at Summer Solstice:

1. On pilgrimage to sacred ground we traveled from all over
to meet where holy earth’s our bed and sky our only cover
We brought our bodies and our minds We gathered in the dust
We worked for three long hot dry days and after our work was done….
after our work was done He brought his gift to us

Chorus
He came and gave us all a gift He came despite fatigue and pain
He came to Ram Das Puri’s dust He came and brought the rain

2. I am you and you are me One on one there’s only one
“Call on God” the Yogi said Open up your heart
Now is the time let us do it Overhead the sky grew dark
“This is it, the time is now Chant from your heart.”

Chorus
He came and gave us all a gift He came despite fatigue and pain
He came to Ram Das Puri’s dust He came and brought the rain

3. Sing it louder, feel it “Bring it in!” the Yogi cried
As thunder boomed through heart and sky We opened up inside
Sunlight filled the desert Light shone in every space
But rain poured down just where we sat 800 filled with grace

Chorus
He came and gave us all a gift He came despite fatigue and pain
He came to Ram Das Puri’s dust He came and brought the rain

4. Hail, Hail unto the God More and more and more he cried
As hailstone pounded on the roof and rain poured from the sky
“I am thine in mine myself” We’ve traveled very far
to live our lives in freedom to be earth’s guiding stars

Chorus
He came and gave us all a gift He came despite fatigue and pain
He came to Ram Das Puri’s dust He came and brought the rain

5. The law of one is one plus one which equals only one
when everything is said and done you and I meet in the one
Our souls have made the journey-home We bring our gifts to give
We die together in the light and only One shall live….only One shall live
