20th Anniversary Barsi for Yogi Bhajan

On October 6, 2024, our community will be gathering as a Sangat to celebrate the 20th Barsi (death anniversary) and remember with gratitude all of the gifts given to us by our Beloved Spiritual Teacher, the Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan.

This event will be via Zoom from 6am MDT and will end at 6pm MDT.

You can join in person for chanting at 5:00pm at his ranch at Hacienda de Guru Ram Das in Espanola, New Mexico.  Directly following rehiras sahib and the chanting, a langar meal will be served.

You can also join in online via Zoom for 12 hours of chanting to Guru Ram Das.  We will start with livestreaming of the chanting to Guru Ram Das during the morning HGRD gurdwara program and we will end with the livestreaming of the evening chanting program at the ranch.  In between, our global Sangat members will lead 30-minute slots of continuous chanting.

Give a Gift in Honor of YogiJi

Gurusimran Kaur from Hacienda de Guru Ram Das in Española, New Mexico shared this story:

One time the Siri Singh Sahib was visiting Española while the ashram was getting ready to celebrate Guru Ram Das’s birthday.
A few Sangat members asked him:

“Sir, how can we actually honor Guru Ram Das? Yes, we meditate, pray, serve langar but how can we actually truly honor Guru Ram Das since he lived about 500 years ago.”

The Siri Singh Sahib said:

“If you really want to honor Guru Ram Das, you plant a tree”.

So, the ashram got organized and each person or family chipped in money for one tree. Then we picked places to plant them and prepared the land by digging holes.

On Guru Ram Das’s birthday we planted the trees– each person/family came and planted their tree with our love and gratitude.
It turned out that we planted exactly 108 trees that day.  This was not planned, but that is what it turned out to be.

The Siri Singh Sahib loved all of the trees on his ranch property. He was very strict about trees not being removed without his direct permission. If anyone asked to remove a tree, whenever possible, he came up with another solution.

In honor of the Siri Singh Sahib Ji’s love of Guru Ram Das and his love of trees, please consider donating to a tree to be planted on his ranch property at Hacienda de Guru Ram Das.  There is a long list of fruit trees and shade trees which the caretakers would like to plant to beautify the property.  Feel free to donate any amount.  As a reference, each tree costs between $60 and $300.
