Summer Solstice 2024 Connection Review

With almost 500 people registered, this Summer Solstice 2024 was high in spirit and a revitalizing experience. Ram Das Puri and the surrounding landscape was vibrant and green.

Unlike what we’re used to, this year New Mexico had plenty of rain, cloudy days, and thunderstorms mixed with some nights with heavy wind. The elements were there letting us know the transformation that is happening everywhere on the globe.

We had more than 70 teachers and musicians lending their talent to our Yogic Workshops, Morning Sadhanas, Gurdwaras, and of course White Tantric Yoga® was celebrated. For many, this was their first Summer Solstice Sadhana and, for some, the first White Tantric Yoga.

I felt the heart of the camp this year was the Gurdwara — the Amrit vows, the evening Kirtan Darbar, and such amazing Naad in each Hukam read by the United Kingdom and Española Sangats that you felt time and space paused just to listen…

The live music during Sadhana was a real treat for the soul. The weather made you wonder if it was winter or summer solstice in the ambrosial hours 😅. Anyway, we enjoyed it very much.

Personally, I was jumping with the camera from class to class, so I did not get to sit through a complete class. I saw how the majority of the classes provided a deep experience for attendees.

The personal interactions were heartfelt and everyone was ready to serve! I mean, just look at this saints of the Tantric Burgers, getting up at 3 am to make delicious burgers for us.

The kitchen TEAM in this solstice deserves all the blessings possible 🌹🌹🌹 We got so much positive feedback about the food this year!

And something challenging happened.

This photo was taken the night of the last day of White Tantric Yoga®. We were happy because, at the end, we started seeing rain clouds. We know what these clouds mean. They mean the blessings from the heavens after three days of hard work.

And it was that plus more.

At the end of the tantric, everyone was instructed to stay in one of the buildings. Thunder was everywhere, so no one could go to their tents. While some people were dancing in the Tantric shelter, the majority were in the Dining Hall. And then it started, a rain so intense that it left you in awe!

After 20 minutes, water entered the dining hall. And there, our safety mode was turned on. People started sweeping the floors to keep the water out. Then, someone had the idea to turn some of the folding tables on their sides to push the water across the room out the other side. That was amazing to see. The community working together.

When the rain eased, some Shakti Valley campers wanted to go and check the status of the camp; with thunder on the clear, we assembled a team and went to check.

We discovered that a major flash-flood had destroyed the showers and swept some of the tents away. So, the rescue mission began: we could see a light on the other side of what was a river in Shakti Valley, so we knew at least was person was trapped, unable to cross the flood water. We spend almost all night finding our way in from the other side of the campsite to check every tent, and went to bed 30 minutes before sadhana began! Everyone was accounted for so we slept in peace.

Even after going through this challenge we continued with morning sadhana, classes and the evening Kirtan Darbar. This gave everyone the opportunity to process, and relax after the stress the storm put us through. We enjoyed ourself for two more days.

From my 🧡 to yours, thank you everyone for helping those days!

Four of our fellow campers in Shakti Valley lost everything in the flood and because of this we put together a fundraising campaign were you can donate to reimburse them for their lost belongings.
