Despite our desire to be fulfilled and effective, we sometimes lack in caliber. Caliber refers to the quality of one’s character, or capacity for excellence and ability to project one’s true identity. Our nervous systems are under constant pressure, and we sometimes lack the energy to follow through on our best intentions. This short practice takes only 2 minutes, and works to strengthen the power of projection, communication, and creative capacity.
The Practice
Posture: Sit in a meditative posture with a straight spine.
Mudra: The heel of the right palm covers the right ear and the heel of the left palm covers the left ear so that the fingers come around to the back of the head. The fingers and thumbs of each hand are together. The tips of the Saturn (middle) fingers touch each other behind the head; if the hair is down, be sure the hands are touching the skin of the neck. Extend the elbows straight out to the sides.
Eyes: 1/10th open.
Mantra & Breath: Ek Ong Kaar
Inhale deeply and exhale a few times. Then inhale to begin. Chant the mantra three times with maximum force. Volume is more important than musicality.
After chanting the mantra 3 times press the tongue flat against the upper palate with all your strength. Breathe naturally, and press hard for 60 seconds.
Relax.
Total time is 2 minutes.
Comments:
When practicing this kriya, under no circumstances should the mantra be done more than three times or the tongue pressed for more than one minute.
This kriya was originally taught on November 22, 1977 and can be found in the manual, KRIYA.
