Mantra to Open Up Blockages in Your Life

This mantra, also known as the 17th Slok of Sukhmani Sahib, helps remove blocks or obstacles when you feel stuck. It is a variation of the original mantra, with an emphasis on “bhai” instead of “bhee.” Both salute the wisdom of the ages, but the purpose of “bhai” is to act as a lever and remove blocks when you feel stuck.

Find a version you like and sing along to it. Allow the wisdom of the ages to move you. You can also chant without music if you prefer. If you are feeling particularly stuck, you could play this mantra in your home, your car, your work space, or while you sleep.

The Practice

Posture: Sit in a comfortable meditative posture with your spine straight.

Mantra: Aad Such Jugaad Such Hai Bhai Such Nanak Hosee Bhai Such

Chant out loud.

Meaning: True in the beginning, true throughout the ages, true even now, Nanak, truth shall ever be.

All that is stopped shall move.

If you have a recording you can chant along musically.

Time is not specified.

Comments

The historical context of this mantra is helpful in understanding how it works. Many of the mantras in Kundalini Yoga are in the language of Gurmukhi, and find their origins in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib.

There is a story in which Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth of the Sikh Gurus was writing Sukhmani Sahib, Prayer of Peace, he became stuck. He asked Baba Siri Chand, the oldest son of Guru Nanak and the founder of the Udasi yoga lineage, to help. Baba Siri Chand recited this mantra, as written by Guru Nanak, changing the emphasis from “bhee” to “bhai.” This was to remove the blocks.

This meditation was originally taught on August 4, 1975.
