In this self-blessing meditation you are asked to truly experience what it is to be a human being, and turn yourself toward a state of living consciously, humbly, servicefully, kindly, and compassionately. Your power to heal lies in your ability to forgive your own anger.
The Practice
Posture: Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine, and a light Neck Lock. Raise both arms out to the sides, bend the elbows so that the forearms come to a 90 degree angle, fingers pointing to the sky. Hands face forward.
Eyes: Eyes are focused at the tip of the nose.
Mantra: Chant along with a recording of “Humee Hum Brahm Hum” and move in rhythm with the mantra. On “Humee Hum,” touch the top of your head with the left hand, blessing yourself. On “Brahm Hum,” return to the starting position.
Continue for 3 – 11 minutes. To end, inhale, hold the breath, tighten the spine, and stiffen the left hand. Pull the energy of the spine into the left hand. Exhale. Repeat 2 more times. Relax.
Comments:
A beautiful way to get up in the morning is to first stretch like a cat, then lie down on your back with your right arm alongside you, and with your left hand bless yourself as in this meditation. One blessing is enough to start your day on the right foot.
