Shakti and Shakta One Heart Meditation for Couples

This powerful couple’s meditation is meant to elevate awareness and the capacity to see the sacred in the other. It is generally invigorating, energizing, and intended for strength and endurance. It may leave you feeling light, and restore you to a state of youthfulness.

Holding the breath out flushes and purifies the blood. This is excellent for ridding the body of disease. It also has the power to absorb oxygen so that the major organs receive a boost of strength.

The Practice

Posture: Sit down facing your partner in any comfortable meditative position that maintains a straight spine.

Mudra: Relax arms and hands down in a comfortable position.

Eyes: Eyes can be closed halfway, 9/10, or completely.

Mantra and Breath: Take turns chanting the Mul Mantra. While your partner is chanting, hold the breath out.

Start with 3 minutes and build up gradually to 31 minutes.

Comments:

While one of you chants, the other holds their breath, and then while they chant, you hold. It is a great way for partners to relate to each other.

One is Shakti and one is Shakta—both are the polarity of the same divine force. Nobody is superior, and nobody is inferior. One is the base and pushes up. The other gets pushed up from the base. These are not separate things. Live by the heart rather than the head. There is wisdom there.
