Spine Flex Variation
This exercise is said to purify the blood, strengthen the nervous system and help prevent back and shoulder pain.
Posture: Sit on the heels in Rock Pose. Put the palms flat on the ground outside of the knees, a little to the front. Pull the neck up, spine straight. You should look just like one of those little Buddhist temple lions.
Breath & Movement: Begin flexing the spine to its maximum capacity, keeping the elbows straight. Inhale, flex forward, exhale powerfully, flex backward. Keep a steady rhythm. The forehead may get hot and the spine start to sweat.
Continue for 3 minutes. Then Move immediately into the next exercise.
Yoga Mudra
You may find a rosy glow in your cheeks after this exercise.
Posture: Still in Rock Pose, interlace the fingers behind the back at the base of the spine with palms facing the head. Straighten the arms and lift as high as you can.
Continue for 2 minutes. Then inhale, exhale, and relax.
60 Degree Leg Raise
This exercise stretches the sciatic nerve and helps relieve headaches. Move immediately into the next exercise.
Posture: Sit with the legs straight in front, heels together. Place the palms down at the sides of the body, slightly in back of the hips. Raise the legs slowly to 60 degrees and hold. Don’t bend backward at all.
Continue for 3 minutes. Then inhale and exhale 2 times, and relax.
Knees Pulled In
The continuous Breath of Fire is said to cleanse the blood and lungs and stimulate the life force so that you can retain your youth and power.
Posture: With the body in the same position as the previous exercise, bring the knees into the chest. Balance the body, holding the feet 6 inches off the ground.
Breath: Breath of Fire.
Continue for 2 minutes. Then inhale, exhale, and relax.
Leg Stretch
This exercise along with the following exercise stimulate the liver and the spleen.
Posture: Stretch the legs straight in front and catch the toes. Elbows are straight. Pull and elongate the spine fully, and pull Neck Lock. Stretch very tight and concentrate as you keep up. Press the toes hard.
Eye Focus: Close the eyes, and roll them up.
Continue for 2 minutes.
Leg Stretch with Hum
This exercise cleanses the lungs and stimulates the life force to promote youth, power, and potency.
Posture: Maintain the same position as the previous exercise.
Mantra: Begin to chant the mantra HUM. It means We. The sound is continuous. This sound helps you come out of small-mindedness and tension.
