Ajooni Singh

My name is Ajooni Singh. I was born in Mexico, and in 1988 I had my first international cuisine restaurant. I met Master Yogi Bhajan in 1989, and soon after went to live and study with him. In the summer of that year, I started to cook for him. Since at that point, I had no experience with cooking vegetarian food, I used my intuition to transform my original recipes to vegetarian dishes and served him with love and prayers to improve his health. I learned from the Master the use of spices and prepared food for him with flavors from India, Mexico, Italy, as well as Arabic and Yogic recipes. While cooking, I was always thinking about how to cook to heal his body as well as making the food delicious. Over the years I learned from the Master a unique method of Ayurvedic cooking and diet – simple and nutritious — which everyone can enjoy.

I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga at 16 and joined the Baltimore Panj Pyare Ashram at 18. I wrote cherished 3HO songs like “Sat Nam the Grace Within You” and “Oh Guru Ram Das Thank You for This Beautiful Day,” while also learning and performing countless devotional songs at Gurdwaras and events.

Now with a white beard, I carry the teachings, music, and love inspired by the Siri Singh Sahib Ji in my heart. Singing from the Perfect Love of the Perfect Guru, Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, remains my greatest joy. Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa. Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh!

Sat Hari Singh

In 1981 I had decided to go to the Guru Ram Das Ashram. I wanted to dedicate myself entirely to this spiritual way of life of Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma, my whole life. The dawn of the Age of Aquarius had moved many people like me to give 100% of their lives into new contexts. In health food stores, at Amnesty International – or yoga. For the next eleven years, my life consisted of sadhana, 3HO, Golden Temple Restaurant, evening yoga, raising children and above all experiencing, preparing and following up on Yogi Bhajan’s visits. That shaped me. During that time, I translated my heart’s prayer, the Jap Ji Sahib, twice, published a mantra booklet and turned my experiences into music, because our “religion” is music. Everything else came out of it later. There are moments in every person’s life when there is an extraordinary opportunity to serve their time and their people. When I saw the starry sky in the Old Synagogue in Boizenburg for the first time, I knew here it was, now it’s that time again. Sat Nam.
